FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LOS ANGELES LEATHER COALITION ANNOUNCES THREE CHARITY PARTNERS FOR LA LEATHER PRIDE 2024
MARCH 17 THROUGH 24, 2024
Los Angeles, CA
The Los Angeles Leather Coalition (LALC) is proud to announce the selection of three worthy organizations as the Charity Partners for the upcoming LA LEATHER PRIDE festivities in March 2024 (March 17-24):
LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER SENIOR DEPARTMENT (www.lalgbtcenter.org)
TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION (www.tomoffinland.org)
THE WALL (LAS MEMORIAS) (www.thewalllasmemorias.org)
The theme of LA LEATHER PRIDE this year is “DARK ANGEL: Seduction” and each of these organizations is an Angel in our midst, providing numerous services, culture and inspiration to our communities.
As an important part of the Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Center, the largest LGBTQ+ services organization in the world, the Senior Services Department strives to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful community where LGBTQ+ older adults (50+) can come together to learn, connect, build friendships, gain support, and thrive. “Expanding the Center’s holistic model of care with a progressive vision for aging and community, our team provides our seniors with everything from affordable housing to healthcare, employment navigation and case management, legal services, and activities that offer a forum for some of the Center’s most joyous gatherings,” said Michael McFadden, Assistant Director. He added that the seniors are excited to be part of the many activities during LALP 2024.
The Tom of Finland Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, located in Los Angeles but having a worldwide reach. They will be celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2024. “This milestone represents not only a commemoration of our rich history,” said Brad Lim-Senesac, Executive Director, “but also a commitment to continued support for queer artists, groups, and organizations. Moving into 2024, the Tom of Finland Foundation is poised for significant growth and expansion of our partnerships, licensee relationships, and support for those aligned with the legacy of Tom of Finland. We see the opportunity to partner with LA Leather Pride as just the beginning of an exciting journey. This collaboration aligns seamlessly with our mission to foster a community that cherishes and supports the diverse expressions of queer art and culture.”
The Wall Las Memorias is a community health and wellness organization dedicated to serving Latino, LGBTQ and other under-served populations through advocacy, education and building the next generation of leadership. The organization serves low-income and hard-to-reach communities throughout Los Angeles, educating community members on the importance of HIV and AIDS, substance abuse prevention, mental health stigma reduction for LGBTQ+ transitional-aged youth, transgender women health and wellness, non-binary health and wellness, and community building in the marginalized communities. For more than 28 years, the organization has helped eradicate stigma and bigotry, and created a safer place in our communities for dialogue, community building, education and prevention services for this devastating epidemic using its AIDS Monument as a catalyst for social change. The group was delighted to be a Charity Partner in 2023 and the LALC is proud to welcome them back.
