LOS ANGELES, CA – March 4, 2024 – Los Angeles Leather Pride is excited to present “Encuerados: A Movie Viewing & Panel Discussion,” hosted by Christopher Velasquez, Mr. CSW 2023. In collaboration with 910WEHO and The Wall Las Memorias Project, this event promises an illuminating exploration into the often-overlooked underground subculture of the Los Angeles Latino LGBTQ+ Leather community.

“Encuerados” is a documentary directed and produced by filmmaker Orlando Bedolla. The film chronicles the year-long involvement of nine Latino men in the leather scene, with a primary focus on the historical achievement of Leo Iriarte as the first Latino man to win the title of Mr. Los Angeles Leather. Through showcasing Leo’s legacy and the experiences of these trailblazers, “Encuerados” delves into issues of representation, leadership, and community building within the Latino LGBTQ+ Leather community.
Christopher Velasquez, Mr. CSW 2023, will serve as the host for the evening, guiding attendees through the film and facilitating a panel discussion afterward. Velasquez, known for his dedication to advocacy and community empowerment, is eager to provide a platform for dialogue and reflection on the issues raised in the documentary.
