Los Angeles, CA: January 22, 2017; after a hugely successful 2016 Los Angeles Leather Pride, the 2017 week long celebration is sure to be bigger than ever. CODE: LA, the 18th edition of Los Angeles Leather Pride, March 24 – April 2, 2016, celebrates the diverse members of our LA Leather Community. The Los Angeles Leather Coalition has lined up a stellar group of judges for the 2017 Mr. LA Leather Contest.
The judges for the 2017 Mr. LA Leather come from a diverse background of experience in the Leather Community. They include:
David “Tigger” Bailey – International Mr. Leather 2016
Tigger is proud to serve our diverse communities as your current International Mister Leather 2016. He also has the distinct dual honor of being both the oldest leatherman to earn the IML title and the first from New Jersey where he served as Mr. New Jersey Leather 2016.
Jeffrey Erdman – Mr. LA Leather 2016
Jeffrey is Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2016, and placed in the Top 20 at IML this last year. Jeffrey is an openly gay attorney and a partner in the law firm of Bennett & Erdman. Jeffrey has been a proud and prominent member of the LGBT community since moving to Los Angeles in 1992. In addition to working with a variety of community organizations, and being an LGBT advocate among the legal bench and bar, Jeffrey has served on the board for the ONE Archives Foundation for the past ten years.
Demetri Moshoyannis – Positive Resource Center
Most recently, Demetri served as Executive Director of Folsom Street Events, working diligently to breathe new life into the agency. Under his direction for nearly 11 years, the organization created new areas at the infamous Folsom Street Fair such as The Playground (the leather women and transgender areas), the Erotic Artists’ Area, and attracted top-name entertainment to the Fair.
Matthew Mulllins – Mr. West Coast Olympus Leather
Matthew (Pup Ash-Tray) is a professional writer/photographer based in Studio City, and a bartender/promotor/ social media strategist for the Bullet Bar in North Hollywood. He also commonly bartender for the Tom of Finland Foundation. An avid kinkster with a passion for pups and social inclusion; he helped create the first LA Puppy Pride Weekend which includes the Los Angeles Pup Contest, and a near monthly event and mosh called Dog Pound.
Bob Miller – Executive Director of CLAW
Bob is the President, Executive Director and co-founder of CLAW Corp, a non-profit 501 c3 charity dedicated to education, fundraising, volunteerism and other charitable needs of the adult leather community. CLAW produces a large annual conference every April in Cleveland, Ohio and helps dozens of other organizations and events every year with sponsorships, publicity and other support.
Marc Ransdell-Bellenger – Curator & Community Development Tom of Finland Foundation
Marc has been into leather or kink for as long as he can recall even long before he knew what sex was. His mother had a set of leathers made for him in 1st grade. Marc was given the great honor of being chosen the 23rd man to fill the boots of Mr. Long Beach Leather, in 2013. The focus of his title year was promoting issues facing the homeless community, He also Joined Aaron Duke, American Leatherman 2013 in his efforts to raise awareness of those of us in the community battling mental illnesses. And stood with Eric Paul Leue Mr Los Angeles Leather 2014 PrEP awareness campaign. In 2016, year he founded “Hitting Bottoms”, a 12 step recovery meeting for members of the leather tribe.
Don Mike – Mr. Sister Leather 2010
Don Mike is a media whore. He’ll take any chance to get on camera or stage to spread his message of love, brotherhood, hot leathersex. Previously with the LA boys of Leather, Avatar and LA Pups and current member of the LA Band of Brothers, he was also cannonized by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as Saint Bernard of the Concecrated Canines. If you want him to play nice nice you can bribe him with artisanal ginger ale and cherry Pop Tarts.
Don Doyle – President Avatar Club Los Angeles
A native of Los Angeles, Don traces his membership in the Southern California leather community for over 45 years. As a young leatherman in the 1970s, Don was fortunate to experience the extensive leather scene in Los Angeles and was prominently involved in bike runs and bar events at Larry’s, Griff’s, the Stud, Falcon’s Lair, and the One Way. For 15 years, he has served as Fantasy Committee chair for Inferno sponsored by the Chicago Hellfire Club.
